Tony Johnson first joined the printing industry as an apprentice
hot metal compositor. After studying Printing Technology at LCP he carried out postgraduate studies in colour physics at Imperial College and studied mathematics with the Open University. After 10 years research into colour reproduction with Pira he was appointed as research manager of Crosfield Electronics Ltd in 1983 and became a Principal Lecturer at LCP in 1997 where he is now Professor of Colour Imaging. He is active in the international standards community including ISO TC130 and CIE TC8-03 and TC8-05. Current research interests: colour management, colour difference and the colorimetry of graphic arts media. |

Lindsay W. MacDonald joined the Colour Imaging Group at LCP in October 2003 from the Colour & Imaging Institute, where he had been Professor of Multimedia Imaging since 1997. Previously he was Professor of Multimedia Systems at Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education, and Principal Consultant at Crosfield Electronics Ltd (now Fujifilm Electronic Imaging).
Professor MacDonald holds B.Sc. (Physics/Mathematics) and B.Eng. (Electrical) degrees from the University of Sydney and is a Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS), the Institution of Electrical Engineers (FIEE), the Royal Society for the Arts (FRSA) and the Royal Photographic Society. He is co-author or co-editor of several books, including: Computer Generated Color (Wiley, 1994), Display Systems: (Wiley, 1997), Colour Imaging (Wiley, 1999) Colour Engineering (Wiley, 2002) and Colour Image Science (Wiley, 2002). |

Phil Green worked in the printing industry from 1975 in production, training and consultancy. In 1986 he joined the London College of Printing. He received an MSc in Interactive Systems Analysis from the University of Surrey in 1995 and a PhD from Colour & Imaging Institute, University of Derby in 2003.
Phil has authored and edited a number of textbooks on colour, imaging and graphic arts, including Colour Engineering, Understanding Digital Color, Digital Photography and Professional Print Buying. He is active in CIE TC8-03 Gamut Mapping. Research interests: gamut mapping, colour appearance and colour difference in graphic arts media. |
